While the COVID-19 keeps most of us at home, some people are allowed – or even obligated – to drive to work. Needless to say, having a hot hatch for this purpose is an added benefit.
At least, this is what Azeem, a physician from Johannesburg, South African Republic, seems to believe. His seventh-gen Volkswagen Golf R is well suited for emergency calls thanks to being equipped with the APR Stage 3+ Performance Kit (550 PS / 542 hp / 404 kW).
The package includes a large BorgWarner EFR 7163 turbocharger, a 3” (76mm) downpipe, a new air intake system and intercooler, a water/methanol injection system by Cool Boost Systems, and an ECU remap. Delivering the power to the asphalt are gorgeous OZ Racing Superforgiata CL rims painted black and wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 performance rubber.
The hot hatch rides on air suspension and flaunts body kit parts by Maxton Design and Oettinger, among others. The rear seat bank is no more, with a roll cage sitting in its place.
Needless to say, the coronavirus outbreak has put extra pressure on medical personnel worldwide, SAR included. Even then, it looks like Azeem has adequate funds to invest in his hobby, which is always nice.
