Volkswagen Group may be the world leader in car production, but height-adjustable suspension is still missing from the plethora of options available with the latest VW Golf. Luckily for us, dedicated suspension parts manufacturer H&R steps in to fill that gap.
Owners of the Golf Mk8 may now opt for coilovers that drop the front axle height by between 30 and 40 millimeters (1.2 – 1.6 inches) and the rear axle height by 30 – 50 mm (1.2 – 1.8 inches). The standard adaptive suspension is the only one currently supported, but later releases might add compatibility with the R-Line and bad road suspension types.
The kit costs €589 and lends the hatchback a much sportier stance. It also reduces sideways rolling, especially important when cornering at higher speeds. The vendor claims the springs are every bit as comfortable as the stock ones, even in long trips. Also on offer are fixed-height springs and Trak+ wheel spacers.
