Volkswagen has entertained the idea of issuing a Golf R edition with the Audi RS3 five-cylinder under the hood, but never followed through with it. Tired of waiting, fans took matters into their own hands.
Depicted here is a previous-gen Golf R Mk7, which usually stops just short of 300 hp (224 kW). Once swapped, it started generating healthy 395 horsepower (295 kilowatts), but its owner felt it was still too little. After some additional boosting and tweaking, the five-cylinder landed with 600 hp (447 kW) being sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed S-tronic.
