Volkswagen has launched pre-orders for the next-gen Golf Alltrack crosswagon, its most powerful diesel car on record.
The 2.0-liter mill the new Alltrack comes with churns out 200 PS (197 hp / 147 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. It connects to the in-house DSG transmission and AWD. Fuel consumption hovers close to 4.8 liters per 100 km (UK: 58 MPG), and a full tank yields up to 1,000 km (620 miles) of range.
Compared against the standard Golf wagon, the off-road-friendly version boasts 15 mm (0.6”) of extra ground clearance, side moldings, and a protective body kit. It offers 611 liters (21.6 cubic feet) of trunk space and comes with a digital dashboard, a DAB+ digital radio, Discover Media navigation system, and the App-Connect Wireless feature for mobile phones.
