A group of enthusiasts decided to see how a Golf GTI TCR would hold its own on a drag strip against an RTR-tuned Ford Mustang. If you think you know the answer, watch the video and think again.
It is true that on paper, the American muscle ride packs 625 PS (616 hp / 460 kW) – more than twice as much as the Golf. The latter only has 286 European horses at its disposal (282 hp / 210 kW). The interesting part – according to the author of the video – is that the Golf benefits greatly from its dual-clutch DSG transmission, which should offset the power difference somewhat.
But even so, do you believe a Golf GTI TCR could outrun a purebred pony? Check out the video regardless of whether you do or don’t.
