2025 VW Golf shows up in the first official teaser

Volkswagen has shared the first image of the upcoming Golf Mk8 facelift. It was displayed at the end of CEO Thomas Schaefer’s speech at the conference dedicated to the company’s annual financial results. Schaefer confirmed that the updated Golf was getting ready to debut sometime in 2024.

Headlights are about the only thing visible in the teaser. There is a multi-piece horizontal light bar known by other recent VW releases, a backlit VW badge and novel arrow-shaped headlight elements. The distinctly visible roof rails are a clear hint at the company’s intention to continue producing the Golf wagon along with the hatchback.

In early fall this year, a number of photos have leaked online allegedly from an earlier press conference. The Golf depicted in them looked very much like the one in the teaser here and not too different from the current model. It looks like slightly revised headlights and bumpers might be all there is to the facelift.

As for the interior, it will most likely be refreshed in the same vein as the latest Passat and Tiguan. The powertrain diversity won’t be going anywhere soon, but manual transmission may well be discontinued.
