It so happened that the eighth-generation Volkswagen Golf received a facelift in the year of its 50th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the automaker launched a limited series called the Edition 50, pricing it from €36,800.
The base car is a maxed-out Style trim riding on 18-inch wheels with aluminum pedal pads, black fabric for the headliner and a top-of-the-line infotainment system with ChatGPT support. To make it further stand out, the designers gave it a backlit emblem at the front end and ‘50’ badges on the b-pillars, the kick plates and the steering wheel.
The anniversary edition is only available in hatchback form with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine under the hood and 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW). Buyers can still choose between manual and preselector DSG for the transmission.
Speaking of the Golf facelift, it is also coming to the market in wagon from called Variant. An entry-level 1.5 TFSI engine rated at 115 PS (113 hp / 86 kW) is also available, as well as three trim levels – Standard, Life, and Style. Prices start from €27,200 for the hatchback and €28,300 for the wagon.
Volkswagen has refreshed its entire Golf lineup now (see video). There are no major powertrain changes, but the hybrid variants benefit from a bigger battery option. In its flagship spec, the Golf Mk8 can produce 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW).
