Kim Paetz, from Germany, converted a second-generation Volkswagen Golf into a dragster by giving it a 2.9-liter VR6 engine and cranking the output to insane 910 PS (898 hp / 669 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque.
This was accomplished thanks to a BorgWarner EFR 9180 turbocharger. An improved five-speed sequential transmission was tasked with delivering the torque to all four wheels through a modern Volkswagen 4Motion system.
Soon after the tuning was complete, the driver went to Lausitzring near Berlin, Germany and proceeded to do multiple quarter-mile runs. The best time on the 402-meter stretch was 10.07 seconds – extremely impressive for an older Golf. Furthermore, it looked like he could manage a 9-second run given more attempts.
