A 75-year old man forces his 310-hp strong VW Golf to 600 hp

The YouTube user LivingLifeFast has recently published a story of a 75-year old man in Great Britain who celebrated his birthday by ordering his VW Golf R upgraded to 600 horsepower, or 447 kilowatts.

The two-liter engine of the “hot hatch” had to be modified in two stages. Its stock output of 310 hp (230 kW) first went up to 450 hp (336 kW). Then the engine tuners decided to use an experimental turbocharger by Turbonetics, which brought it all the way up to the desired 600 hp (447 kW). Only two Golfs in the entire world command a turbine charger like this.

The man didn’t care to measure acceleration times, but we know that the stock Volkswagen Golf R accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds. The tuned-up vehicle can be expected to accomplish the same at least 1s faster.

Other additions included a new intercooler, a better exhaust system, a fuel pump and the RacingLine cold injection system for more efficient engine cooling.
