No doubt you still remember Dieselgate. The Volkswagen R400/R420 was among the cars that fell victim to the emission scandal, ultimately leading to its replacement by the Golf MK 8 in the next year. However, the manufacturer just might want to release a farewell batch of cars before that.
Based on the recently published video, the company is currently testing a Volkswagen Golf R400/R420-like vehicle at the Nürburgring. If the rumors are true, we may be looking forward to a much-anticipated version of Golf armed with a 2.5L engine taken straight from the Audi TT/RS3.
Other likely features of the series may include a new roof spoiler, aprons, broader tires, sport suspension, 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system and a 7-speed DCT.
The interior of the alleged new Volkswagen Golf R400/R420 is going to feature sport seats, a sport steering wheel and numerous carbon/aluminum decorative parts.
That said, the only thing we have beside all the rumors is a camouflaged VW test mule.
