Volkswagen has announced the Golf GTI 380, the last Golf GTI ever with an optional manual transmission. It will go on sale in the USA soon starting from $32,485, and rumors say only the 2024 model year will be available.
On the outside, the special edition has a black roof, black mirror covers, red accents and 19-inch, Golf R-style wheels. An exclusive new color called Graphite Grey Metallic is available for those interested.
In its most basic trim version, the hatchback will get a retro-themed cloth upholstery, with leather reserved for higher trim levels. The traditional gear lever will be replaced with a special selector shaped like a golf ball (that’s how the description goes; it has yet to appear in a photo).
The number 380 doesn’t refer to any technical specifications – rather, it’s just a reference to the internal factory designation of the Golf GTI. The car still comes with its usual 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 241 PS (238 hp / 177 kW) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque.
Volkswagen has neither confirmed nor denied whether the production quantity will be limited.
