Volkswagen has facelifted the Golf GTI along with the regular Golf lineup at the beginning of the year, but it hadn’t been available in Europe until this week.
The 2.0L TSI engine the hot hatch comes with now churns out 265 PS (261 hp / 195 kW) instead of 245 PS (242 hp / 180 kW). The torque stays the same at 370 Nm (273 lb-ft). Manual transmission is gone for good, leaving seven-speed preselector DSG as the only option. On the upside, the sprint time from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) has shrunk from 6.2 to 5.9 seconds.
Prices in Germany start from €44,500.
