Check out the sound of 800-HP, Audi-swapped VW Golf R

There was speculation last year that Volkswagen might want to stuff an Audi five-cylinder under the hood of the Mk8 Golf R. It never came to be, so tuners decided to improvise.

It wouldn’t be the first time we are seeing an engine swap like this in the past years, but this one takes the prize for flawless execution. The owner of the car, who is from the Netherlands, managed not only to squeeze the five-pot under the hood of the Golf, but also to rev it up to twice the output, turbocharging it from 400 to 800 metric horsepower. He mainly used a TTE770 turbine kit and MTR-Performance software for the job.

Watch the 10-minute video to see – and, no less importantly, hear – the hardcore Audi-swapped Golf R in action.
