Mk8 Volkswagen Golf R gets a tune to 526 PS

German tuner HGP has produced another upgrade for the eighth-gen VW Golf R. A year ago, the company manages to raise the output from the stock 320 PS (316 hp / 235 kW) to 444 PS (438 hp / 327 kW), but the new boost kit takes things even further.

Included in the package are an all-new, purpose-designed exhaust system which retains the catalyst and filters, a potent Wagner intercooler with a robust front subframe to support it, and a single large turbocharger. The intake system also enjoys its share of modifications, and the ECU software is new.

Once everything is configured, the power output rises to 526 PS (519 hp / 387 kW) and the torque goes from 420 PS (310 lb-ft) to 629 Nm (464 lb-ft). The car sprints from 100 to 200 km/h (62-124 mph) in 7.5 seconds and maxes out at 325 km/h (202 mph).

You can tell the HGP-tuned Golf Mk8 from its stock brethren by a special wrap, 19-inch OZ Racing wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires, adjustable suspension, and high-end six-piston brake calipers with carbon-ceramic rotors at the front axle.
