Volkswagen has posted an announcement video featuring a new car known as the Golf R 333 Limited Edition. The launch event is scheduled on May 31, 2023.
The number in the title most likely refers to the engine output of 333 metric horsepower, which translates into 328 U.S. hp or 245 kilowatts. For the torque, it is expected to be in the general vicinity of 420 Nm (310 lb-ft).
The teaser is just 27 seconds long and shows a black decal with the number 333 on it running across the lower door panels. It also briefly shows black side mirror housings and an Akrapovic quad-tip exhaust. 19-inch Estoril wheels with blue brake calipers can also be seen.
From the technical standpoint, the limited edition is based on the eighth-gen Golf R, so it would make little sense to expect an attractive price. The previous special – the Golf R 20 Years –is still on sale in Germany at just under €60,000.
