Volkswagen believes it could use more performance cars wearing the Clubsport badge, says the company’s Communications boss Martin Hube.
Speaking in his latest interview, Hube let it slip that a track-focused version of the Golf R with four driven wheels was under development. He refused to provide any details beyond that.
If we had to guess, we’d say that this hypothetical Golf R Clubsport would most likely receive suspension tweaks and some weight reduction compared to stock. The car’s standard 2.0-liter EA888 evo4 engine may get a mild boost from its current 320 PS (316 hp / 235 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque.
