Volkswagen released the first over-the-air (OTA) update for its ID range of electric cars in the summer of 2021, improving infotainment features, fixing headlight issues etc. Another upgrade has arrived now offering even more goodies for all ID car owners.
The update introduces modifications to various electronic assists, the charging functionality and other technical aspects. For instance, the parking assist system can now memorize and reproduce any maneuvers performed under 40 km/h (25 mph) over a distance of 50 meters (164 feet). This can be useful for showing your car how to enter your driveway and garage and let it do that without your aid.
Another major change comes in the form of reduced charging time for the stock 77-kWh battery pack, as well as a slight improvement in driving range. Volkswagen does not reveal any specific numbers here. Finally, you can now limit the charge level of your battery to 80 percent from nominal capacity if you want it to have a longer service life.
