The Volkswagen factories in Zwickau and Dresden will pause all production in the first half of October, Reuters reports explaining that the EVs made there – the Volkswagen ID.3 and the Cupra Born – aren’t selling as well as they used to.
The company has not clarified how many vehicles would be taken out of the production queue and whether the employees of either site would be adequately compensated for the idle time.
Earlier in September, reports came trickling in that Volkswagen was considering shutting down its Dresden site altogether to try and curb the mounting expenses. The industrial complex is currently draining money out of corporation at an average rate of €20,000,000 per year.
