Volkswagen already has its electric ID.4 SUV rolling off the assembly lines in Germany and China, and North America joins the list today.
The ID.4 is the first ID-series vehicle to be made in the United States. The corporation invested $2.7 billion into the production, including $0.8 billion into upgrading its factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where the Atlas/Teramont is being made as well. Georgia-based firm named SK Innovation will supply traction batteries.
All Volkswagen off-roaders assembled in the USA will be available on the domestic market, as well as in Canada and Mexico. The sales will start in October. The company hopes to reach the target production rate of 7,000 monthly units by the end of the year.
