The all-electric Volkswagen ID.4 SUV has set a new Guinness Book record by traveling through the entire expanse of Canada and only stopping 18 times to top up the battery.
Driving the car was none other than Rainer Zietlow, a well-known fan of all things Volkswagen. The journey spanned 7,133 kilometers (4,432 miles) and took him a week to complete. On average, he had driven for nearly 400 kilometers (250 miles) between the charging stations.
For its own part, Volkswagen commented that the record could actually influence the development of the EV market in Canada. The matter is, many potential EV buyers in the country refrain from doing so because they consider the EV infrastructure inadequate. Zietlow’s demonstration that you can not only drive, but travel on an electric car in Canada may become a good example for everyone.
