Reports: US-spec Volkswagen ID.4 to gain extra power and range in early 2024

According to Carscoops referencing its own sources, Volkswagen is getting ready to update its ID.4 electric SUV in the United States with 82 PS (81 hp / 60 kW) of added power and improved range.

The single-motor version of the crossover, which is currently being made in Chattanooga, will reportedly get 286 PS (282 hp / 210 kW) instead of the current 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW). The dual-motor version will allegedly get a boost from 299 PS (295 hp / 220 kW) to 335 PS (330 hp / 246 kW). Judging by the parameters, the entry-level ID.4 will be using the same motor as the ID.7.

Despite the boost, both versions of the SUV will be able to go on longer on a charge, Carscoops says. The details aren’t available yet, but the current ID.4 model offers up to 410 km (255 miles) of range.

The equipment list should grow longer, too. For one thing, we are promised a larger 12.9-inch infotainment display with an updated UI, seat ventilation, a 10-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system and 21-inch wheels.

Sales are expected to start in early 2024.
