Volkswagen has refreshed its all-electric ID.4 and ID.5 lineup heading into the next model year. Both SUVs get a more up-to-date multimedia system and substantially improved motors across the board.
Specifically, the RWD version trades its old 204-PS (201-hp / 150-kW) motor for a superior 286-PS (282-hp / 210-kW) one. The torque is instant and amounts to 545 Nm (402 lb-ft). The AWD lineup has likewise been boosted to 286 metric horsepower from 265 PS (261 hp / 195 kW).
The GTX performance flagship now commands 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW) instead of 299 PS (295 hp / 220 kW) and sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.4 seconds. The top speed is still capped at 180 km/h (112 mph) for the entire ID.4/ID.5 model range.
Last but not least, Volkswagen has announced an improved 77-kWh battery pack that gives the ID.4 up to 550 km (342 miles) of driving range per charge and the ID.5 up to 556 km (345 miles).
The infotainment system screen has been enlarged to 12.9 inches of diagonal size, and the two other displays have been reworked, too. The infotainment UI is said to be more responsive in the 2024MY version and offers new, better organized menus.
