It’s a tradition among major corporations to launch particularly elaborate commercials during the annual Super Bowl event in the USA. Volkswagen did better than most this time around with its two-minute vid titled “An American Love Story”.
Experts have calculated that the audience engagement with the ad came to 1,694 points – nearly 17 times the average number and the third best result of this year’s finals.
The video itself is a retrospective on the carmaker’s history overseas, covering all the major milestones from the launch of the first VW Beetle to the current model lineup. The ending scene hints at a cyclical nature of things, comparing one the automaker’s latest EVs to the first-gen Beetle.
