Volkswagen has paused the production of its electric ID.4 crossover, blaming it on a hard-to-fix issue with the door lock disengaging mid-drive.
As we reported earlier, the company found that water may sometimes enter the inside of the door and short the PCB there, causing the door to swing open on a highway.
It was the official reason for the third ID.4 recall so far. One has to wonder whether it is the only reason, though. Seeing how poorly these EVs have been selling recently, Volkswagen might actually be looking for any plausible excuse to stop the assembly lines.
