As if the Dieselgate wasn’t enough, Volkswagen AG is now facing another major fine for failing to meet CO2 emission targets.
New emission quotas entering into force in the European Union this year are quite strict, and it looks like Volkswagen is well on track to smashing through them. According to Rolf Woller, who is responsible for the company’s finances, the ensuing fine may come to €1.5 billion.
This is not as bad as the $31.3 billion that the automaker had to pay for Dieselgate cheating, but still extremely sensitive for a company struggling to stay afloat.
