New data emerges about Volkswagen’s largest e-SUV to date

Volkswagen has confirmed that its upcoming flagship EV, the ID.7, has nearly finished its mandatory test runs and will be ready for the premiere on April 17. The car has 700 km (435 miles) of battery range and is the company’s largest, most powerful and longest-range EV in the ID lineup yet.

The reveal event will also be dedicated to an all-new electric powertrain designed by VW AG with record-high power and torque output in mind. Despite being so powerful, the system enjoys a wide range of optimizations that let it offer plenty of driving range under any conditions.

It is unknown what traction battery provides the juice, but charging will be supported from 200kW and lesser sources. Paying a premium will unlock adaptive suspension and an advanced drivetrain management system designed for drivers who often travel long distances.

The interior, which we have already seen, sports a minimalist look with a modest-sized dash panel and a 15-inch infotainment display in the middle. Aside from these, every car will be shipped with 14-way adjustable, particularly comfortable seats offering advanced massage functions for the first time on record.

The same seats will also come equipped with temperature and humidity sensors to tell the HVAC to keep the environment warm or cool depending on the situation. A similar solution is already used in Bentley cars.
