Volkswagen ID.7 shows up in a patent application

Patent authorities in China have published the certification shots of the production-ready Volkswagen ID.7. The electric sedan will hit the spotlight in the country on April 18 and come to other markets later.

The battery saloon was designed to stand in for the outgoing Passat model, although it is much larger than the Passat and about as long as most executive-class saloons running on gas.

Per the photos, the full name of the car is Volkswagen ID.7 Vizzion. This means the production will be handled by the FAW-VW joint enterprise in China. The SAIC-VW factory will be producing a very similar car with a different name suffix.

On the whole, the ID.7 looks much like a liftback, but its trunk area is actually separate from the cabin, so it is still technically a sedan. As for the performance, the standard version will offer a single e-motor, 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 700 km (435 miles) of range. Any other specs remain to be revealed.
