Volkswagen ID.7 GTX shows up for the first time

Volkswagen has posted the first photos of its ID.7 GTX electric liftback. Compared to the stock model, the hardcore GTX version will boast sporty accents and a superior dual-motor powertrain driving all four wheels. As such, it will become a faster and more capable alternative to the standard ID.7 when it debuts in late summer.

The images reveal the headlights, the taillights and a side mirror with a GTX badge underneath. The interior is trimmed in black with red stitching, highlighting the sporty character of the EV.

The manufacturer also promises us revised drive modes ranging from Comfort to Sport, which will automatically apply a vast number of presets to the engine, steering, chassis and brakes.

What we don’t know yet is how much power the SUV will command. The Chinese base spec shown in the gallery here makes do with a meager 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW), while its European relative enjoys 286 PS (282 hp / 210 kW). The ID.4 GTX boasts 299 PS (295 hp / 220 kW), and we fully expect the ID.7 GTX to be more capable than that.
