The Volkswagen ID.X Concept is a high-performance take on the ID.7 packing 558 PS (550 hp / 410 kW) and set to go on sale in 2025 giving the top-spec Tesla Model 3 a run for its money.
The original ID.7 (see video) is only available in Europe with as little as 286 PS (282 hp / 210 kW), although the company says better-equipped alternatives will arrive eventually. In contrast, the ID.X beats the current BMW i4 M50 with its 544 PS (536 hp / 400 kW). All we know regarding acceleration is that the car sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than four seconds.
The prototype was exhibited at the ID.Treffen event in Locarno, Switzerland. It looked much like any other flashy show ride with a sophisticated aero kit, carbon-fiber bits all around, a giant rear wing, 20-inch forged wheels and a 60mm (2.4-inch) reduction in ride height compared to the stock ID.7. Volkswagen also added 80 mm (3.1 inches) to the front wheel toe-in.
There is only one interior photo at the time, and everything looks stock apart from minor red accents matching those throughout the body.
