Volkswagen launched the production of its ID. Buzz model in Hannover earlier this month, but things did not work out as planned.
According to InsideEVs, the company had to halt its production lines due to receiving a subpar batch of traction batteries from a third-party supplier. The cells failed to meet the requirements and yielded less driving range than expected.
The source who reported about this incident did not disclose the brand of the batteries, but pointed out that Volkswagen intended to use the same battery pack in its other new EVs.
The setback might affect the production schedule of the ID. Buzz, of which only around 500 units has been made to date. Reportedly, the company finds itself unable to ship these to their respective buyers due to the poor battery quality.
