Customers in Europe have placed more than 20,000 pre-orders for Volkswagen’s newest all-electric van, the ID. Buzz.
Lars Krause, one of the company’s executives, pointed out that the number is especially impressive considering that there are still no vans exhibited live in the dealerships. When those appear, the company expects the sales to soar again.
At this moment, you can only order the ID. Buzz with a single electric motor driving the rear axle and an 82-kWh battery pack. When new modifications appear in the lineup and the sales geography expands further, the van should explode in popularity.
The production of the Buzz model started in Germany this summer. The automaker plans to churn out 15,000 units this year and send the first 6,000 to the dealerships.
