New Volkswagen Jetta GLI to debut at the Chicago show

Volkswagen AG has released a teaser pic showing its next-gen Jetta GLI sedan. The company plans to reveal the car at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2019.

The vehicle is being marketed as the “car that’s a Golf GTI at heart”. As such, it boasts the trademark GTI honeycomb grille and the similarly designed, tinted lights.

In its next iteration, the Jetta GLI also gets full-aluminum wheels, performance brakes and independent multi-link suspension in the rear, which should result in a much smoother driving experience.

It has been earlier made official that the car would ship with a 2.0-liter turbo V4 engine producing up to 220 hp (164 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lbft) of torque. Available transmissions will include manual and 7-speed DCT.
