Have a look at an armored Volkswagen Jetta priced at $28k

A nine-year-old, armored Volkswagen Jetta sedan is up for grabs in the United States right now for an asking price of $28,000. The Drive explains that its owner ordered it fully armored out of purely pragmatic reasons, but luckily avoided incidents.

Specifically, the owner had to drive between Texas and Mexico on business trips often, and was concerned about possible bandit attacks. He then contracted Blindajes Alemanes, a car shop from Mexico, to outfit a brand-new VW Jetta with Grade 4 armor capable of withstanding sustained gunfire up to the 7.62 mm caliber (AK-74).

The sedan itself came specced with a 2.0-liter turbo diesel rated at 140 PS (138 hp / 103 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque and cost $26,000 back in 2013. Getting it armored set the owner back another $53,000.

The seller claims the car mostly just stood in the garage and ended up a touch over 10,500 km (6,500 miles) under its belt. He says he was able to transfer some of his work online and no longer needed a lifesaver car like that.
