The German car manufacturer Volkswagen AG has held a presentation in China dedicated to its next-generation Gran Lavida compact hatchback series. The vehicle will hit the showrooms in fall 2018 with so far undisclosed price range and specifications.
The Chinese-oriented Gran Lavida is essentially a modification of the VW Jetta. Both utilize the same MQB module-based vehicle platform.
The interior of the updated series sports leather finishing, a state-of-the-art infotainment system, a panorama glass roof, power front seats and other nice features. The exterior has also been revised and now looks more modern than before.
The region-specific engine palette consists of a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated engine good for 116 hp (87 kW) and a 1.4L turbo with 140 hp (104 kW). Both work in conjunction with a DSG box.
The next generation of Gran Lavida vehicles will be assembled in the Shanghai-Volkswagen works in China. More information will become available as the launch date draws nearer.
