The Volkswagen Passat Variant is the best-selling estate/wagon in its price category, and the Passat sedan/saloon isn’t too far behind in terms of popularity, either. So it is not surprising that aftermarket suspension manufacturer H&R has released new springs for the entire Passat family.
More specifically, what the company released today is an aftermarket coilover-based (i.e., adjustable) suspension kit. If you just want some cheap lowering springs, you can order them from H&R, as they have been around for a while already. The coilovers cost more (€1,206), but you can fine-tune your favorite ride height with them. Lowering the car by 30 to 55 millimeters (1.2 to 2.2 inches) on both axles won’t just make it look fitter, but also improve its overall dynamics. In particular, it will reduce rolling experienced when making sharp turns going fast.
Before ordering a kit, make sure to tell H&R which VW Passat model you have, including factory suspension type and drive (2WD / 4WD). This way you will get a kit guaranteed to be compatible with your particular model.
