Few would call the Volkswagen Passat a true driver’s car, but Tanner Faust’s insane racer is known throughout the world. The Hoonigan team has recently got its hands on it for a couple races – here’s what ensued.
Before you hit play, let us remind you that the world’s most capable Passat drift car was built by Papadakis Racing. The tuner threw away the OEM engine and squeezed an enormous 7.3-liter LS7 V8 under the hood instead. The mill effortlessly churns out 700 hp (522 kW), and the nitrous oxide system throws in another 200 hp (150 kW).
The rival is a fourth-gen Supra boosted to 700 hp (522 kW) without swapping. On the one hand, the Japanese coupe weighs a whopping 362 kilos (800 lbs) more than the Passat, but on the other hand, it is a purebred sports car and not a purpose-built stunt car, like the Passat. So, which one would pull ahead of the other? Watch the video to find out!
