Volkswagen told us that the new Passat would be unveiled in late August, and a new video teaser confirms that it will happen on Thursday, August 31.
The new Passat generation will only see the daylight in wagon body style with the sedan going out of fashion. The production will be moved from Germany to Slovakia.
Earlier official photos emphasized the lighting capabilities of the car. Its matrix LED arrays in particular were advertised as shining on the road up to 500 meters (roughly one-third of a mile) ahead.
The multiple prototypes spotted on the roads so far showed clear design similarities with the ID family of electric cars. Inside, we expect to see a 10.25-inch digital dashboard and a 12.9-inch multimedia display (expandable to 15 inches in higher trim levels).
The next-gen Passat is expected to reach the market in the first quarter of 2024.
