New Volkswagen Passat gets its European release later this year

The German car manufacturer Volkswagen AG has revealed plans to release the long-anticipated next generation of Volkswagen Passat in Europe in 2018. Dr. Herbert Diess, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, has confirmed that the update will be issued for all variants of the ultra-popular car, but refused to provide any further details.

Industry-savvy professionals expect the refreshed Volkswagen Passat to switch to a more environmentally-friendly engine lineup, which should include a brand-new, 1.5-liter engine rated at anywhere between 131 and 150 hp and offering high fuel efficiency.

The date and destination of the official Volkswagen Passat premiere remain unannounced, however, most sources seem to agree that it’s going to happen this fall.
