Old VW Polo may get an ‘off-road’ version in some regions

Volkswagen has unveiled the Volkswagen Polo Vivo Dune Concept, a slightly more off-road-capable variant of the previous-gen VW Polo, which is known as the Polo Vivo in South Africa and sells alongside the new generation.

The car gains clearance in this new version and features skid plates, all-terrain tires, a roof rack, a spare wheel and a snorkel.

Interestingly, the Polo family already has an off-road version on the South African market, known as the Polo Vivo Maxx. It is technically similar to the European CrossPolo, which you can see on the video here.

Among other things, the new hatchback only offers two seats. The rear sofa gets dumped in favor of a storage box partitioned off by a mosquito net. The seats sport a nice contrasting trim that matches the body paint scheme.

If the concept car ever goes into actual production, chances are good that it will revert to the five-seat layout, along with other simplifications.
