Not so long ago, the Volkswagen brand announced its retirement from the rally. However, the company decided not to "slam the door" into the world of racing definitively, announcing the release of the brand-new Volkswagen Polo GTI R5, designed specifically for the races on the track. At the same time, Volkswagen Motorsport does not return to the World Rally Championship.
The same designers worked on the creation of a new racing car that worked on the well-known Polo R WRC. While there is no more information about the car, however, as it became known recently, the new sports car is built on the basis of the Polo GTI, equipped with 2.0-liter engine with supercharged and direct fuel injection V4. Its power is 270 horsepower. Plus, the car received a 5-speed transmission and four-wheel drive.
