2021 VW Polo underway to EU showrooms

The sixth generation of the Volkswagen Polo has just transitioned into model year 2021. Let us see what the refreshed hatchback will offer when it ships in Europe in a few days.

The exterior is now more in line with that of the Golf Mk8. LED lighting is present by default, and paying extra unlocks LED Matrix headlights with an added bar spanning the entire grille.

The standard feature list mentions an 8-inch digital dash and a 6.5-inch multimedia display (larger sizes available in higher specs), as well as a plethora of driving aids. There is also a central airbag and a touch panel for HVAC controls.

A major innovation comes in the form of IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist, an SAE Level 2 semi-autonomous driving system.

At first, customers will be able to choose from a trio of one-liter petrol three-cylinders rated at 80, 95 and 110 PS (79, 94 and 108 HP; 59, 70 and 81 kW). An alternative powertrain will be available on condensed natural gas (CNG).
