German tuners squeeze 475 PS out of the VW T-Roc R

German tune-up shop McChip-DKR has released its fourth and likely final power upgrade for the Volkswagen T-Roc R. With the new components and a bit of elbow grease, the 2.0-liter turbo-four mill goes to 475 PS (468 hp / 349 kW) and 510 Nm (380 lb-ft).

As should be expected, the tune did not boil down to an ECU remap. Included in the Stage 4 kit are a new downpipe, modified turbochargers and a massive new intercooler. The net result amounted to 175 extra horsepower and 110 Newton-meters of torque. Sprint times were not disclosed, but the compact SUV sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in its factory guise, so this should not be a problem. The top speed went from 250 to 285 km/h (155 to 177 mph).

Those wishing to cut corners may opt for Stage 3, which comes without an intercooler and yields 430 PS (424 hp / 316 kW) and 485 Nm (358 lb-ft). Stage 2 is even more affordable as it lacks the new turbos, and promises 375 PS (370 hp / 276 kW) along with 455 Nm (336 lb-ft). Finally, Stage I is a simple ECU tune that still results in 350 PS (345 hp / 257 kW) at the crank and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque.

All upgrades are also compatible with the technically identical SUV Cupra Ateca.
