The FAW-Volkswagen joint enterprise has produced its 20,000,000th car: it turned out to be a Tayron L SUV.
The German automaker established a foothold in China in 1991 and started production with the second generation of its Jetta sedan. The Jetta had stayed on the assembly line until 2013. It took 13 long years for FAW and Volkswagen to deliver their first million cars in the region.
Things are looking up now with the joint enterprise consisting of as many as five major factories capable of churning out more than 1,500,000 vehicles per year.
