Volkswagen has launched the electric e-Tharu in China, landing the compact-sized SUV with a single motor capable of 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque.
The car packs a 44.1-kWh battery sufficient for 315 kilometers (195 miles) of mixed-cycle driving, according to the admittedly outdated NEDC standard. Its exterior and cabin are identical to those of the gasoline version except for the more aerodynamically shaped wheels, front bumper with its C-shaped DRLs, and badges.
At just 194,800 Yuan (currently around $29,330 USD), the well-equipped VW e-Tharu is quite a bargain in China.
