It looks like Volkswagen is getting ready to introduce the next generation of the Tiguan. The prototype in the spy photos looks like it could be fully electric.
The test mule is wearing a modified current-generation body, but there is no mistaking the solid front end where the radiator grille had been. Further modifications include more pronounced side skirts and lacking tailpipes. Unless the latter are hidden, it is an EV that we are dealing with here.
The upgraded Tiguan may actually stick to its current MQB architecture even as Volkswagen continues pushing its other models to the MEB platform. The MQB chassis still lends itself well to mild and plug-in hybrids, as well as battery EVs, so we would be surprised to see it used in the next iteration of the Tiguan.
