Volkswagen Tiguan PHEV caught testing

Volkswagen is getting the third generation of its Tiguan SUV ready for premiere. For the first time on record, the spy photos reveal what looks like a plug-hybrid version.

The PHEV looks identical to its peers until you notice a charging port in the driver’s-side fender. The front fascia sports a wide chrome-trimmed slab, and the headlights reveal square sections inside. The exhaust tips at the back are obviously fake.

In its third design iteration, the Tiguan will ship with a 12.9-inch infotainment display as standard. Higher trims will offer a larger 15-inch screen. The dashboard is also digital and measures 10.25 inches corner-to-corner.

Customers will also be able to choose from two PHEV powertrain variants – one with 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and the other one with 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW). Traditional petrol and diesel options are also expected.
