VW Tiguan gets a new flagship spec in the USA

Volkswagen’s NYIAS lineup this year included a particularly beefy Tiguan SEL R-Line Turbo. It wasn’t just a concept; the SUV will hit the showroom floors in North America this fall.

The vehicle is 4,684 mm (183 inches) long, 1,854 mm (72.4 inches) wide and 1,685 mm (65.8 inches) tall with 2,791 mm (109 inches) of interaxle space. It packs an improved version of the 2.0-liter EA888 engine, which now produces 271 PS (267 hp / 200 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission carries the torque to all four wheels.

Option-wise, the SEL R-Line Turbo comes equipped with a three-zone HVAC, heated seats with massage and ventilation features, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. The infotainment system on board uses two displays 10.25 and 15 inches large. Natural leather and wood trim all around complements the premium look and feel.
