Some fresh bits of information about the next-generation seven-seat Volkswagen Touareg SUV have been posted online by the manufacturer. Although bulkier than its predecessor, the car is also going to be lighter. It shall enjoy its official reveal on March 23rd.
The new 2019 Volkswagen Touareg has a larger chassis also used in such flagship models as Lamborghini Urus or Porsche Cayenne – hence the added dimensions. It makes intensive use of modern composite materials, however, and weighs in at under two metric tons.
Industry professionals expect the vehicle to enter markets all over the world with a wide selection of engines, including a variety of 3.0L gasoline and diesel V6s and a high-end 4.0L V8. A version of the 2019 VW Touareg with a hybrid drivetrain is also going to be released at a later date.
Last but not least, many of its exterior and interior design features are going to be inspired by the Volkswagen T-Prime Concept GTE to which the new car is a direct successor.
