The Volkswagen Touran L MPV family has been present on the Chinese market for two years. The “L” suffix actually means new generation, rather than elongated base. There’s a new member in the family now, and it’s a crossover vehicle.
Compared to its urban counterpart, the Volkswagen CrossTouran L features a new radiator grille design, bumpers, wheel arches and plastic door sill pads. It also offers 143 mm (5.6”) of road clearance, which is 23 mm / 0.9” better than in the standard version, and a set of exclusive 18” wheels.
The vehicle is still driven by the same 1.4L TSI engine with 150 hp / 112 kW and DSG transmission.
The Volkswagen CrossTouran L series is being assembled in the facilities of the Shanghai Volkswagen joint enterprise. It is this series that the 19,000,000th vehicle produced at the factory belongs to.
Sales will begin in August.
