SAIC and Volkswagen have released the crossover version of Volkswagen Touran L on the Chinese market. Buyers are free to choose either the six- or the seven-seat variant of the car.
Compared to its non-SUV-shaped counterpart, the Volkswagen Touran L Cross features silvery bumper pads, a plastic body kit and an additional 23 mm (0.9”) of suspension height. The resulting ground clearance is 143 mm (5.6”).
The vehicle has barely changed in terms of outer dimensions (L: +10 mm / 0.4”, W: +5 mm / 0.2”, H: +54 mm / 2”).
The entry-level model ships with a panoramic roof, 18” alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, a multimedia set with an 8” display and support for CarLife, CarPlay, and MirrorLink, a nine-speaker sound system, adaptive lighting, and parking assistance.
The engine compartment of the vehicle holds a 1.4-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that works in conjunction with a 7-speed DSG box, producing up to 150 hp (112 kW). The manufacturer may be releasing a performance variant with 180 hp (134 kW) at a later date, but this isn’t official yet.
A new Volkswagen Touran L Cross costs U.S. $26,500 and above.
